Name: Carly McDonald

IG: carlyamcdonald
Age: 43
Staying strong: Watching her husband battle cancer truly changed the way Carly looks at life. “It allowed us to focus on family and really think about what it is that drives us. It made me see that you only live once. You need to go for things outside your comfort zone and follow your dreams.”
Profession: Teacher.
Persistence pays off: Carly’s determination is her defining characteristic. “If I commit to something, I will do whatever it takes to make it happen.”
Greatest reward: “I am most proud of being a mom and being a role model for my children. I love that they share my growth mindset and see the positives of leading a healthy lifestyle.”
Little-known fact: Carly once lived in Uganda on an island – in a tent, nonetheless! “My husband and I were on the Canadian Freestyle Kayaking team, and we lived there to train during the winter.” .

Trait she values most: Compassion.
Heavy metal: Charlene is another woman who touts weightlifting as one of her passions. “I love being able to transform my body and the feeling of being strong.”

Name: Cindy Sullivan

IG: cindysullivanfitness
Age: 52
Finding happiness: In her mid-thirties, Cindy had a high-stress job, was caring for a two-year-old child and was undergoing IVF. “I was completely overwhelmed and burned out. It had finally hit – I thought I was doing what I was supposed to do, but I was miserable in the process.” She cancelled her next doctor’s appointment and never looked back.
Passion project: Helping women and older adults in their fitness journey is what drives Cindy to success.
A true friend: “I always like to make others feel special,” says Cindy.
Embracing the change: Menopause hasn’t slowed Cindy down, but it has had some surprising side effects. “I cry a lot, in a good way. At greeting cards, commercials – happy or sad! I don’t find this to be a flaw – being emotional is good for the soul.”
Fitness faves: Group exercise classes that include a “little bit of everything” are what Cindy always finds herself gravitating toward in the gym.

Name: Corinne Jeppesen

IG: Corinne_Jeppesen
Age: 56
Total transformation: Corinne is proud of the 48 pounds she lost several years ago through an online program.
Just say no: Heights and Corinne do not get along. “Planes are okay, but if I were to be expected to walk across a suspension bridge or hike along a steep mountainside, there would be fear.”
Happiest moments: When she’s outside with her dogs.
Former gigs: In a previous career, Corinne worked for an environmental company as a water quality technologist.
Helping others: Corinne is very proud that she recently landed her hypnotherapy certification. “It is very rewarding to have the skill set to help others identify and eradicate limiting beliefs that are holding them back from living their best life.”
