Name: Crystal Mallari
IG: coachcrystalm
Age: 43
Fighting stereotypes: Crystal considers her very first fitness competition, UFE Mayhem 2018 in Hamilton, Ontario, at age 40 to be her greatest accomplishment. “I wanted to challenge myself and prove to my fitness clients that age ain’t nothin’ but a number!”
Inspiring others: “One of my life purposes is to coach other women to step onto the fitness stage and to fall in love with the process of working toward the goal of competing.”
Personal trifecta: Crystal says her friends count on her to be spontaneous, fearless and humble.
Staying strong: “In March 2020, we quickly pivoted when the pandemic forced us to permanently close our fitness and weight loss boutique. We lost half of our members and we had to rebuild our business online.” Now they serve women all over North America, and even in Africa and the UK!
Support system: Spending time with her son and husband is what Crystal looks forward to most. “Whether we’re being active together, watching a movie or sharing a good meal, my boys bring me the most joy!”

Name: Deirdre Slattery
IG: deirdre_sfitness
Age: 49
Starting over: Things haven’t always been easy for Deirdre. “I had to start over and rebuild my life for myself and my daughter with nothing more than determination and the grit to not give up.” Looks like she was successful!
Joy in motion: “I am at my happiest when I am training, moving my body – especially outdoors – and taking care of my myself, body, mind and spirit, with good people around me.”
High priorities: Deirdre needs her friends and partner to be both loyal and trustworthy.
Happy tears: “The last time I cried was when I found out my longtime friend would be coming to DJ at my big 50th birthday!”
Surprise, surprise: Many people are taken aback when they discover Deirdre’s age – and that she has a 20-year-old daughter!

Name: Erin Bailey-Boyes
IG: bodybydesignfitnessstudio
Age: 48
Big anniversary: This January, Erin is marking nine years sober! “I am most proud of my sobriety, and for raising an awesome human being.”
Greatest fear: “Not living up to my potential.”
Cozy comforts: When she’s not working or at the gym, you’ll find Erin snuggling with her fur babies, drinking coffee by the fire and laughing with her girl.
Sharing grief: The last time Erin cried was when one of her Facebook friends posted of the passing of their furry family member. “It’s truly heartbreaking.”
Valued characteristic: If you want to be friends with Erin, you must know that loyalty tops her list of needed traits. Who can blame her?

Name: Grace Bent
IG: chapter_grace
Age: 41
Quite the compliment: One friend recently told Grace that, like wine and cheese, she is only getting better with age. “I could only laugh, because I’ve always called myself an old soul.”
Fear factor: “My greatest fear is disappointing others – and disappointing myself.”
Sweating and smiling: Whenever she’s feeling down, Grace tackles a leg day routine. “I’m even happier when my kids join me for a workout!” she adds.
High priorities: Grace always looks for depth and sincerity in those she surrounds herself with. “I don’t like superficial, fake or phony people or relationships.”
What keeps her motivated: Being a role model is of the utmost importance to Grace. “I started competing as a bodybuilder this year. My niece, who is autistic, came to my last show and was so inspired that her mother says she didn’t stop bothering her until she registered her to join a gym.”
