Name: Jennifer Samuels

IG: souljahwehpht
Age: 55
She likes to move it, move it: Staying still is not an option for Jennifer. “Being restricted and not being able to move is my nightmare. I’m a mover and a shaker – dance, exercise, whatever!”
Cool confidence: Jennifer loves to prove that nothing can hold her back. “I have fought against all odds and stereotypes and have come out on top.”
Day of rest: Jennifer is at her most peaceful on Sundays when she’s at church.
Country girl: Though her personality may suggest otherwise, Jennifer was born and raised in a small Northern Ontario town.
Telling it like it is: Looking for a straight shooter? Look no further than Jennifer. “I have no filter and couldn’t be more transparent.”

Name: Jodi Barrett

IG: kettlebellkickboxingcanada
Age: 47
From the inside out: Nearly a decade ago, Jodi reached a breaking point. Though physically strong, she didn’t have the confidence to lift at the gym. “I knew I was very capable, but I had to fix my ‘insides’ first,” she explains. “It was a pivotal moment that would change the course of my life.”
Everyday motivation: Now Jodi uses her story to inspire others. “I’m so proud of that woman who stood in front that gym mirror, recognized she was hurting inside and took the hard steps to make a change and help others.”
Treat yo self: When it comes to goodies, Jodi can’t say no to pizza and M&Ms!
Excellent equipment: Jodi turns to kettlebells when she’s looking to get a good sweat on.
Happy place: “I am happiest when I get downtime to connect with myself or with others through inspiring conversation.”

Name: Kate White

IG: katefoundfitness
Age: 49
Close-to-home inspo: “I was so proud seeing my husband of more than 30 years recover from an injury, return to school and graduate over the age of 50 with a new career, all while my life was changing due to finding fitness and sticking with it.”
Greatest fear: Wasting an opportunity. “You might not get a second chance!”
Nature’s nurture: After losing 100 pounds, Kate finds the most joy being active outdoors. “Now I enjoy spending time with family and friends biking, hiking or swimming. It feeds my soul.”
Not another sob story: Sharing her story through this forum brought tears to Kate’s eyes. As she says, “My heart is full, and sometimes it leaks from my eyes.”
Being thankful: In the end, Kate just wants others to find what she has. “This journey is my chance to give back and hopefully give others the gift I’ve been given: the power to choose health and mobility.”

Name: Kristal Adams

IG: Kristal_adams_relentless
Age: 40
Don’t judge a book by its cover: “People are surprised that I’m not as tough as I come across. But I struggle with confidence and I second guess myself a lot.”
Dislikes: Confrontation.
Fear factor: “Failure. It’s kept me from trying many things throughout my life. But I have learned that if you don’t try, you may not fail, but you don’t succeed either. Failure is part of growth.”
Kristal today: “I’ve learned to love myself and my body, and looking and feeling the best I ever have. Age does not matter and you can do anything if you set your mind to it.”
Get real: Kristal wears her heart on her sleeve, and she respects the same from the people in her life. “I value loyalty and honesty most. I like people that are real and raw.”
